Ice Escape

Description

Ice Escape is a puzzle game for ios, android, pc and ouya in which the player must help prehistoric creatures escape the glacier they have been frozen in for millions of years. The three main characters each have different abilities and must combine their talents to escape each maze. The player must swipe their finger (or use joystick on Ouya) to send the creatures sliding across the ice until they hit a wall. This is easy at first, but as the player progresses through each of the 100 hand crafted mazes, the difficulty ramps up. Everything from the devious hunter Van Hyde to the dangerous, carnivorous Tasukete is an obstacle on the way to victory. The game will be released free and with no ads.

History

Background

Ice Escape is a game by one programmer/artist named Corey and one musical genius named Jesse. Together they hope to bring a fun experience to mobile through rewarding gameplay, appealing graphics, an unforgettable soundtrack, and engaging environments. The graphical and musical style is inspired by Banjo Kazooie on the Nintendo 64. Ice Escape aims to replicate some of the nostalgia of that era. Gameplay is inspired by the ice caves in the Pokemon series and the lock puzzles in Skylanders. Level progression follows in the footsteps of the conventional mobile '3-star' system with some hidden surprises.

Why?

Why not? Some have insinuated a lack of sanity behind the decision to go free with no ads. Where does the revenue come from? The truth is, we don't necessarily expect any income from this. We will certainly be selling merchandise such as resin figures and t-shirts and that may offset some cost, but we're not relying on it. Ice Escape is more of a statement that if you believe you can do something, you can if you work hard enough. Animation is Corey's life. And music, Jesse's. We love what we do and want to share it with the world. This is our first released game on our own and would just love for people to play it. We were inspired by some small team mobile games such as Krog and Alien With A Magnet and hope that our game can hopefully inspire others.
